And yes, you're correct that, without exception, countries with 'democratic' and/or 'peoples republic' in their name actually tend not to be either properly democratic or 'for the ordinary people', so maybe keep that fact in mind every time you see a liberal or left-leaning politician harp on about democracy and how democratic they want to make their country...

This is because those kinds of left-leaning modern liberal types of folks use words like 'democracy' and 'democratic' as coded language for (and I'm paraphrasing here) "we want to communise our country and keep all the power for ourselves and our left-leaning friends for as long as we can get away with it so we can live like kings and make massive profits while we keep the ordinary people poor and under our thumb."
