I would say that your top priority should be getting the following pets. "Patterns" don't matter in general, so pick whatever looks goof that you can afford.

>Get a Kiboodle or Turtle
Explorer pet. Explorer is one of the best ways to make money, find items, and get pets early on. Pets with high HP that suck at fighting but level fast are your winners. I prefer kiboodle as they level faster than turtles, but turtles are often dirt cheap so not a bad choice.

> Get a snuul
Haunted, Tea Time and Peppermint Stick are some the the cheaper fast ones. Whenever Snuuls come out, hoard them for racing reasons. Snuul racing is free and generates a little cash and some items.

> Hoard Low level crops for your garden
Gardening gets you food. Food levels pets and can be used to make items. Food is optional, but one of the fastest ways to level a pet so getting used to gardening is highly recommended. Crops rot in the same time it takes for them to grow, so be sure you are online when things are ripe or you will lose the crop. > Play Clumsy Pet to get a Brick
Put your Explorer and Snuul as active pets. Play Clumsy pet until you get 100 points. It's a pain in the ass, but you only need to do it once. This gets you a brick which unlocks the Chevron Brick Wall. Visit the wall twice a day for free stuff and pets. Bonus: Clumsy Pet is the fastest XP gaining game so even if you suck your pets will really grow from your efforts!

>Stalk the forums
Make a "hello" post in the Welcome Board. Then visit giveaways and newbie threads. People tend to offer advice and sometimes free gifts to new players. If someone sends you a message or you get a "ping", be sure to check and respond! Pings show up under the notification bell on the top menu. To ping back it's @username.
