The words displayed on the computer console from the cannon's command center still weighs heavy on your mind. It could be a simple misunderstanding, but one thing is clear, there's a lot missing in between now and then. They always said 'knowledge is power', so what better place to become stronger, than a library.

Seeing as how your personal computer is long gone you'll need to borrow a public one. On your way out you pass by a few banged up men, nothing beyond some scratches and bruises, light combat at best. You assume they've been going out into old-Tokyo to conduct clean-up operations, picking off the Saurian grunts essentially.

You hardly take a step outside when a certain someone recognizes you.

"Ah!" A young man suddenly jumps as he sees your face, it's Fujioka, your brig guard.

"So you're awake! We all missed you down in the brig!" He joyfully shouts. Despite the cramp and spartan conditions of your current arrangements, it actually wasn't that bad. As you understand it actual criminals were rare nowadays so most troublemakers are just people whose pranks went too far, or they simply forgot their limit while drinking. Some nights the guards would strike up a casual conversation with everyone, along the way you'd quietly struck up Fujioka as a friendly acquaintance. Though, being in the brig is still a punishment, most nights you just had to listen to the other prisoners complain about being bored. If there were any.

"We got some new people so you'll be able to meet them tonight!" Fujioka continues happily. He might be glad for the company as he usually guards the armory when the brig is empty. You try to smile politely as he says all this, you know he has no bad intentions, but it's very strange to hear someone so happy about taking prisoners. Maybe you can push for getting a real bed, preferably one not made from a steel slab. Though you did have one pillow.

"I was actually on my way to see the library, I want to do some more research."

"Oh sure, I can show you the way, though I never liked the archivist so I'll stay outside." Fujioka has a nervous expression but tries to laugh it off. Wonder what that's about?

The library -sometimes called the archive, no meaningful difference from what you can tell- is about ten minutes away. When you make it to the two-story building you're stopped by the guard. A guard for a library?

"Fujioka, are you sure about bringing a prisoner here?" The library guard speaks to your guard.

"Ah, it's okay, it's fine!" Fujioka suddenly gets loud and the guard drives a frown at him. After a short introduction the guard nods and allows you inside. Apparently you need an ID to get in, a simple formality to track who comes and goes, but without address this you won't be able to get in without help. Let's bring that up at the same time we ask for our own room.
