>pros: nice rubber substitute, cheap and easy to replace
>cons: 4 pounds, will crack after a few years. Least amount of shock absortion.

EVA (vinyl foam)
>pros: cheap and easy to replace, doesn't radiate outdoor temperature to your body (great for cold), lightest weight
>cons: will shrink if left in sun all day, fairly pliable (small thorns won't affect) but nails may penetrate (can be remedied with a sole insert that Torvi/Nordman uses. EVA foam starts to condense faster than PU foam. For tennis shoes this is usually at about 500 miles, but thicker amounts in a boot may go longer. Can be remedied using an insole for comfort instead of boot.

Like I said before all these boots work well with a liner. You will sweat on the inside, and having something to absorb some of that helps. Replacing liners is very easy to do in a wellington.
When you are looking at alternative wellies, real rubber boots and the hybrids usually weigh 5 pounds or more, need maintenance, cost more. Rubber needs to be maintained or it will crack and things like urine or oil will cause them to have issues.
The US mickey mouse/bunny boots are very heavy, slippery, but can be found cheap.
There are a few real rubber boot companies left. Aigle? (France), Gumleaf (Europe), and la chameaux (France). I have seen more recommendations for Aigle than others.
PVC is trash.
