It doesn't work. We have the highest incarceration rates with the worst criminal justice outcomes. If what you were saying is true we would be the best at stopping crime. We're not. Countries that have lower incarceration rates have better outcomes. Nothing you're saying is supported by data.

None of these things on their own do anything to reduce crime. Cashless bail or reduction in sentencing, for example, do nothing if not paired with social programs that give people other life skills. Like I said, the issue with modern incarceration is that we imprison people then release them in a worse position in life than when they started - no education, no legitimate job skills and a criminal record which is a massive hurdle in reintegrating back into society. Reducing punitive measures are required, yes, but not without being paired with social support.

This is like a 3rd grade engagement with human behavior. If stopping people from doing bad things was as simple as telling them to not do it, then we would live in a literal paradise.
