No, I think we should teach that Baldwin is a black man first. That's more important to his legacy than being gay. Conflating LGBT history and black history as the same thing is erroneous. Baldwin isn't half as important as someone like Malcom X, as well.

One of the worst things about intersectionality is the lack of differentiation. Just because (for instance) black people and Mexicans have historically had some rough times in this country does not mean both groups would like to defund the police. The types of people who push intersectionality, in my view, ignore subtleties between groups and seek to consolidate history as a simple us vs them narrative. often, these types of people are supporters of the BLM movement, a movement which has had Marxist rhetoric in it's philosophy since it's inception. My concern is that someone on an education board can choose to be activist first and educator second. Pushing some dumb idea like the elimination of nuclear families (for instance), is not something out of the realm of possibility if you have someone who is too ideologically blinded to differentiate opinions of some radical group from real, factual history. You could draw a parallel to overtly religious schools censoring secular history.
Parts of the curriculum were released online and I believe (could be a different publication) the Wall Street Journal posted the pages in article. There was definitely some fishy stuff about abolishing prisons and the like.
