Idk, genocide is a particular thing. And given that pygmies oftentimes get killed/enslaved because other Africans consider them subhuman maybe it can be genocide. Not an expert.
I once read some snippets of an old anthro book describing bantu-pygmy relationships. And those pygmies oftentimes weren't oppressed only because they could always up and leave bantu farming society to the jungle and because the Bantu were shit-scared of the jungle they wouldn't pursue even though they considered pygmy tribes the property of specific villages/people.
